Dan served four years of active duty including a tour as a Marine Rifleman with the 7 th Marine Infantry Regiment during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. For his service in Iraq, Dan received numerous awards and citations including the Iraqi Campaign Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon for service under enemy fire during the march to Baghdad and further operations in central Iraq.
