Q. I have joint custody here in Texas 2 hours every Thursday, then every 1st,3rd, 5th weekend. Can Request more time?
A: You can always go back and modify the original court order and ask to be primary conservator and your son live with you. Whenever there has been a material and substantial change in circumstances and you think the conditions at his Mom's house are detrimentally affecting him seek primary custody.
Q. I need some information on filing for a divorce and how much will it cost me?
A: The cost of a divorce depends on whether or not your case is contested or uncontested. If it's contested that means you anticipate a lot of fighting, whereas uncontested means you both are going to get through the process amicably. Other factors to consider are whether you have children, a home and debts. You should consult with a family law attorney to answer some of the more specific questions you may have.
Q. My husband cosigned a home loan for his mom, since then she has paid it off. Does he have ownership after she passes?
A: Financing a home and owning a home are not the same thing. If the Will states all property is to be divided, it should be divided. Did she put him on the deed or just the financing?
