Biography

Kevin earned Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Master of Public Administration (MPA) degrees while working in state and local government as a Georgia POST certified police officer, probation officer, and training instructor. As an attorney, he continues to maintain his certifications by attending public safety training courses.

Kevin graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia. There, he excelled academically and was ranked among the top ten students in his class. Kevin also worked hard to obtain the practical experience and skills necessary to be an exceptional advocate for his clients. While in law school, he gained valuable experience working as a student law clerk for the Honorable Christopher C. Edwards and the Honorable W. Fletcher Sams in the Superior Court of Fayette County (Griffin Judicial Circuit). Kevin’s litigation experience began with his work as a law clerk at Adams & Jordan, P.C., where he learned from some of the best trial lawyers in the state. While at Adams & Jordan, he worked in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice, and government law. Before founding THE KP FIRM LLC, Kevin served as Staff Attorney for the Honorable William P. Adams and the Honorable Jeffrey B. Hanson in the State Court of Bibb County, a private practitioner, a prosecutor, and a government attorney.

Kevin is a 32° Scottish Rite Freemason and former Rotarian. He enjoys supporting organizations such as Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, the Masonic Home of Georgia, Scottish Rite Hospitals, Shriners Hospitals, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and various other charitable and service organizations. Q. Hi, i am a resident of GA. My boyfriend got in a fight during a community soccer game, now the player wants a lawsuit ?
A: The situation you have described involves many factors. One issue, of many, is whether the fight was mutual or one party was the aggressor with the other party acting only in self-defense?

A person may be sued for injuries the person causes to another. Whether the plaintiff in such a case would be able to recover his or her damages depends on the facts of the particular case and issues such as the one above.

The situation where one party brings a lawsuit against another to recover damages is a civil case. Where one party injures another, however, criminal charges also may apply. Generally, criminal charges are brought by the State in a criminal case. The determination of whether criminal charges could apply likely would involve many of the same issues that would be involved in a civil lawsuit (e.g. who started the fight, whether the fight was mutual, whether one party was merely acting in self-defense, etc.).

Q. What is the amount for settlement claims?
A: The determination of what constitutes a fair settlement offer may involve numerous factors such as the limits and applicability of any insurance coverage to your particular situation, and the year, model, mileage, and fair market value of your vehicle. The offer may be fair if in fact your vehicle was worth only $500.00 or your damages totaled only $500.00.

Because the determination of what constitutes a fair settlement offer involves many factors, you should contact a local attorney if you are unsure whether the offer is sufficient and fair.
