Joshua Schiffer
Google me. Seriously. --Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, Civil Rights--
"We Won!!" was not something Josh heard a lot as a kid.
Never the sportiest fella, East Cobb, Georgia didn't inspire him to a sportsball career despite his innate athletic ability. Graduating from The Walker School Josh went North, to Clark University, MA (Hippies and folks from New York, and SO MANY international people!). Chasing young love back to Georgia, Josh graduated from Georgia State University College of Law in 2002 without any honors. He was on Mock Trial and did Moot Court, though. And was fun.
Josh clerked in Cobb Superior Court (A. Grubbs), closed real estate during the boom, and then figured out that Talking was what he really liked so Josh became a PD. LOVED IT, but it was awful to participate in a system that was so broken.
in 2007 Josh graduated from Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College in Wyoming (www.triallawyerscollege.com/), quit working for the State and hung out a shingle. Wandering Solo was a bore, so Doug Chanco (former #JerkProsecutor Josh fought with all the time) argued with Josh to partner with him, and Doug won.
Now "We Won!" is a touch more common...

- Q. How can I stop my ex's harassment in Georgia?
- A: A protective order is the correct first step, and I advise you also consider involving your local law enforcement agency, if only to make them aware, as that behavior is concerning.
A detective should provide available resources as well as guidance when it comes to best practices in protecting yourself and your children.
This is not soemthing to let sit around, take action now.
- Q. As a 15-year-old, can I leave my house to contact the police?
- A: You can ALWAYS call the police. ALWAYS.
If you are in danger you can ALWAYS reach out to Police, Fire and other State Agents as there are protections for you due to your age.
A teacher is another safe pathway, as they are trained how to deal with these issue and get the right assistance for you.
As a 15 year old you are legally protected in MANY MANY ways, do NOT hesitate to reach out for help if you are in any danger or threat.
- Q. Being stalked and harassed by neighbors and falsely accused of a crime. How to ensure safety?
- A: If the DIY remedies are not working, you need to consult with a LOCAL lawyer one who knows the lay of the land and the important people involved) regarding potential additional civil and criminal actions.
Facilitating with local law enforcement can be very effective, and in lieu of that there are several potential civil actions you can bring for harassment, interference with property, etc etc.
Not say any of them will work, as these issues are very fact dependent and GA has a strong history of supporting privacy and property rights, but the process will spur SOME sort of action/change.
You want a super local lawyer, someone who operates at the local court level extensively.
