Amelia A. Ragan
Legare, Attwood & Ragan, LLC
I am a Partner at Legare, Attwood & Ragan, LLC. My legal practice is focused on defending the rights of employees in the workplace and assisting them in enforcing these rights when necessary. I act as lead counsel in employment litigation matters across state and federal courts, mediations, and arbitrations. My cases often involve claims related to race, age, gender, pregnancy, national origin, religion, and disability discrimination, as well as sexual harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, contract disputes, and violations of the Family Medical Leave Act. Additionally, I negotiate and provide advice on employment contracts, separation agreements, and non-competition and non-solicitation agreements.
I am actively involved in professional organizations, serving on the Board of the Georgia Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association and chairing its EEOC and Amicus Committees. I also hold a position on the Board of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section.
I am admitted to practice in the State Bar of Georgia, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Supreme Court of the United States, and Georgia Superior, Appeals, and Supreme Courts.
I earned my degrees in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Tennessee and received my Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School. During my time at law school, I was the editor-in-chief of the John Marshall Law Journal and led the publication of its first multi-volume edition. I was honored with the Salomon Award and the Custer-Tuggle Award for my academic achievements and received the Outstanding Graduate Award for my dedication to ethics and social consciousness in the legal profession.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family and our cairn terrier. I am a passionate Tennessee Volunteers fan.
