After receiving a bachelor's degree in psychology from Indiana University in 1979, I moved to Dallas to attend law school. I obtained my law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1982. I was in private practice until I joined the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office in 1985. I was assigned to the newly formed juvenile division in 1988, becoming the supervising attorney in 1995, and remained there until 2008 when I returned to private practice. The focus of my practice remains juvenile law.

Theresa Dawson is Senior Counsel a Carter Arnett. Theresa’s practice is focused primarily on high stakes intellectual property and complex commercial litigation. Theresa has represented numerous clients in federal courts around the country in intellectual property disputes involving a wide range of technologies, including e-commerce, computer software, encryption, telecommunications, network architecture, and mobile applications. Theresa’s intellectual property litigation practice has also involved multiple appeals, including arguing cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Federal Circuits. David has practiced law for nearly thirty years and has tried over 100 jury trials. During that time, he has represented several Fortune 500 companies in personal injury and commercial litigation.
