I was born in Rochester, NY, and raised in the suburb of Brighton. I attended McQuaid Jesuit High School, and graduated in the Class of 1970. I went to Boston College, graduating with honors in 1974. I completed a graduate course at Northeastern University, receiving a Master of Public Administration degree in 1977. I then worked for a NYS Assemblyman for two legislative sessions, leaving Albany to go to law school, Western New England School of Law, from 1978-1981. James Melita, who grew up in Gloversville, graduated from Plattsburgh State University of New York with a major in political science and a minor in economics. He then graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Michigan. After graduating from law school, James Melita formed his own law practice with a main office in Albany, NY, specializing in Traffic Defense Law, Collections Law, Family and Matrimonial Law, and Real Estate Law.

Mr. Krohn has been an advocate for seniors for nearly 30 years. He is an active member of the American Bar Association, New York ad Florida State Bar Associations, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Orange County Bar Association.
