Biography

Established in 1995, Petersen Criminal Defense has handled over 7000 cases. Due to ever increasing complexity and conflicting legislation, I have limited my practice solely to criminal defense such as drunk driving, federal crimes, sexual assault, drug crimes and assault.

I grew up in Spokane, Washington and discovered at an early age that I wanted to pursue a legal career.

At age 16, I began working at a general practice law firm answering phones and filing legal documents. Eventually, I was admitted under Rule 16 of the Washington Supreme Court to represent clients on a limited basis. By age 19, I was handling traffic tickets in the lower courts under the supervision of an excellent criminal defense attorney.

I clerked at Decker Law Office for 6 years where I learned the art of operating a law office. This is a skill they do not teach in law school and I am grateful for their kind guidance.

I moved to Omaha in 1991 to attend Creighton Law School and graduated from there, Cum Laude, in 1994.

Petersen Law Office was born in 1995 and although I have handled countless types of cases, my passion was always for defending the underdog. I therefore limited my practice to criminal defense in 2000.

Q. Dui, left the state of nebraska, warrant out for arrest. Had a lawyer from nebraska, What should I do?
A: If you have an active warrant in Nebraska, you will have to return to the State to have the warrant cancelled. Take a look at my website to get more information on DUI defenses and penalties. Omaha DUI Lawyer
Q. What does theft by shoplifting-2nd offense mean? If this was only my first time caught
A: This means that your record is showing that you have a prior shoplifting conviction that the State intends to use to enhance the penalties on the current charge. If you have no prior, it could be someone with a similar name or someone used your id when getting arrested for shoplifting. Contact a good criminal defense lawyer to help you.
