Teresa Lynn De Ford
Helping women navigate the divorce process to create a new normal for themselves
I graduated from Michigan State University in 1990 with a degree in Political Philosophy and a minor in Criminal Justice. This minor led me to an internship and eventually to a career as an Intelligence Research Specialist for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). I served at the DEA's headquarters in Washington, D.C., and in regional field offices in San Francisco and Houston. In 1992, I enrolled at the University of Houston Law Center, earning my Juris Doctorate in 1995.
Following law school, I practiced civil litigation, focusing on oil and gas trucking and oilfield injury litigation. However, a personal tragedy involving a close friend inspired me to shift my focus towards helping individuals directly. Consequently, I moved into practicing family, estate planning, and probate law. In 2012, I founded De Ford Law Firm with the mission to assist, serve, and support my community members.
My vision for the firm is to educate and empower our clients during joyful occasions, such as the birth or adoption of a child, and support them through challenging times, like divorce or the loss of a loved one. We strive to help our clients avoid future difficulties through careful planning in family law and estate planning. Our commitment to quality service aims to make our clients feel informed and in control of their future. In recognition of our efforts, in August 2023, we were voted Best Estate Planning & Probate Attorney by the readers of Living Magazine in The Woodlands. Additionally, we received the Best of 2024 for Legal Firms award from the Woodlands Online Community.
Outside of my professional life, I cherish spending time with my husband, our two sons, Evan and Austin, and our three golden retrievers. We enjoy the many activities that The Woodlands, Texas, has to offer.
