Samuel Butcher
Samuel V. Butcher is an elder law attorney in Northeast Ohio. Sam obtained a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University and continues to keep his pharmacy credential active. Sam, while practicing pharmacy, was further motivated to study law at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law of Cleveland State University, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree. He was subsequently admitted to the bar in Ohio, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Sam spent a majority of his legal career at Stewart and DeChant Co., L.P.A. using his medical and legal expertise in a civil litigation practice focused on medical negligence, wrongful death, and personal injury. During his tenure with the firm, he saw firsthand that people were concerned about what would happen to their life savings as the result of a medical event. Sam saw a need and expanded his practice to include elder and disability law. Ultimately, he found this work to be so rewarding that in September of 2011 he made the decision to completely devote himself to the exclusive practice of elder and special needs law and estate planning, and founded Butcher Elder Law. The firm is located in Strongsville, Ohio and serves all of Northeast Ohio and surrounding counties.
Sam’s areas of practice include comprehensive estate planning, asset protection, Medicaid, Veterans benefit, and special needs planning, business succession planning, and probate and trust administration. The distinguishing feature of Sam’s practice is an education process that simplifies the complexity of these areas and enables clients to make informed estate planning choices based on their values. The professionals at Butcher Elder Law guide clients through the creation and design of estate plans by providing recommendations in a non-intimidating fashion. Each client is engaged in the process and is always the final decision maker.
