Biography

I am Robert Almonte II, an award-winning trial lawyer with over ten years of experience as both a federal and state prosecutor. I have been nationally recognized by the Department of Justice Executive Office for United States Attorneys for superior performance, and I am well-versed in handling complex criminal cases and navigating the intricacies of criminal law and penalties.

I graduated from St. Mary’s University, where I earned both my undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law. My legal career began as an Assistant District Attorney (ADA). My dedication and skill in this role led to my appointment by then-Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr. as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in the Western District of Texas. In this capacity, I managed and prosecuted a wide range of offenses, including bank robbery, carjacking, kidnapping, hate crimes, environmental crimes, fraud, human trafficking, child pornography, firearms violations, and civil rights violations. I also handled civil and criminal asset forfeiture cases involving the seizure of real and personal property by the government.

During the majority of my time as a prosecutor, I was assigned to the Complex Fraud and Public Corruption Unit, where I led investigations and prosecutions in high-stakes cases involving white-collar crime, public corruption, health care fraud, procurement fraud, tax violations, wire fraud, and other financial crimes. My work in these areas has established my reputation as a fierce and skilled advocate in federal court. I have handled thousands of cases at every stage, from indictment to trial, gaining invaluable courtroom experience along the way.

In addition to my legal practice, I serve as an adjunct professor at St. Mary’s University School of Law, where I teach white-collar crime.
