Biography

Karen Weinstock is the managing attorney of Weinstock Immigration Lawyers, the premier immigration law firm in Atlanta, Georgia. With over 19 years of experience, she has developed expertise representing U.S. and international companies in securing global talent and ensuring the employees and their families have a good experience in immigrating to the United States.

Karen was born and raised in Israel and immigrated to the United States in 2000. Her genuine passion for immigration law is a direct result of her personal experience as an immigrant. This ability to identify and empathize with immigrants, and her commitment to excellence in obtaining results for her clients differentiate her as one of the top immigration attorneys in the South. Prior to opening her own immigration law firm, Karen was the managing attorney of a regional immigration law firm’s Atlanta office for over 11 years.

Her personal experience emigrating to the U.S. from Israel and experiencing many obstacles, cross-cultural differences and employment challenges, all enable her now to have stronger empathy for her international clientele and better serve their particular needs. She is fluent in English, Hebrew and Spanish.

8 Questions Answered
Q. I'm a refugee in Georgia. I have a social security card but no passport. Can I visit Malaysia with the social security
A: No, you cannot. In order to be able to travel internationally, you need a valid passport. You should be able to get one in the US embassy of the country where you are originally from.
Q. I was wondering if it is possible to immigrate to the US with a felony criminal record and steps to move forward
A: It will depend on the charges, but potentially a felony will be a big obstacle. You should consult with an experienced immigration attorney who can look into your charges and confirm if you can come to the US. Also there is the fact that you will need a sponsor if you are thinking about coming to reside here.
Q. I'm a LPR can I apply for my citizenship if I have stayed aboard longer then 6 months?
A: If you have been abroad for 6 months continuously, this is something that would hurt your citizenship application. In the instance that you have a good reason to have been abroad for such a long time and can justify it, you still may be able to apply and successfully get your citizenship. You should consult with an experienced immigration attorney that can advise you on your situation to make sure you don't compromise your residency.
