Biography

John is a lifelong Mississippian from the Jackson area. In 2022, John co-founded Grant Legal Group, PA, with his wife, Brooke. He is the firm’s president.

Before starting Grant Legal Group, John was an equity-owning member of Shows Law Firm PLLC. He also spent 8 years in public service as an attorney for the Mississippi Court of Appeals. As the Court of Appeals’ opinions editor, John worked on over 2,500 published opinions in various areas of the law—both civil and criminal.

In private practice, John has successfully argued multiple appeals before the Mississippi Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. Additionally, John’s practice includes a range of family-law and wills-and-estates matters. He is an advisor to Catholic Charities Adoption Agency and finalizes the agency’s adoptions in Mississippi.

John and Brooke live in Ridgeland with their two children, Jack and Will. They are active members of Highlands Presbyterian Church.

Q. My father died on June 12. no will, no trust I Stepmom is administrator but is not turning in all assets.
A: You should probably consider filing an injunction to prevent the administrator from dissipating assets. If necessary to prevent irreparable harm, injury, or damage, you could file an emergency petition to get into court more quickly. It is likely in your best interest to hire your own legal counsel to ask the court to protect your interests and to prevent the dissipation of property.
