Biography

I have a strong interest in medicine and the law. Workers compensation law is a natural fit for me and I am blessed to be able to work with both doctors and lawyers every day. My interest in medicine definitely provides me an edge, a greater understanding, of my clients injuries and how the long term effects of a work injury can dramatically impact the ability to work and earn a living. in my practice of work comp law I am routinely questing doctors about their diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plans. This is very challenging yet very rewarding and it certainly results in consistently better and more just settlements for our clients.

Q. Legal steps for shoulder surgery complications and unreachable surgeon with surrendered license.
A: your question was tagged as workers compensation so I will add to the other answers that if your shoulder surgery is work related, you need a work comp attorney to assess the worsening condition due to the need for revision surgery. you have rights under the work comp case that need to be assessed by a workers compensation attorney with years of experience. this was written entirely by me without the use of AI to falsely make my answer look more comprehensive and detailed, as some others do. don't be fooled by the AI messaging. it's unlikely any attorney is taking the time to actually write that much detail as contained in the other answer. Better to call an attorney on the phone for a complete assessment of your situation. ... Read More
Q. How to address false workers' comp records affecting my ongoing case in California?
A: this site is for those with no attorney. you have an attorney, so you need to direct your questions to him or her. if they are not helpful, get a new attorney who will discuss these matters with you and offer solutions. your work comp attorney has tools available to solve all your issues. if they don't know how to use their tools, again, time to get a real attorney.
Q. How can I proceed with WCAB QME appointments in California?
A: Don't represent yourself. Even attorneys know better than to do that! As you may have heard, the attorney who represents him or herself has a fool for a client. A few things to keep in mind:

THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT WORK COMP INSURANCE:

1. The claims adjuster and the doctors they use (mostly Concentra/ Akeso and Kaiser)are not there to help you. Don't be fooled into thinking the insurance company is just going to "take care of you". You have rights, but they are not allowed to assert them for you.

2. You are the adversary, the other team, the enemy to be defeated!

3. The insurance adjuster's job is to delay, deny and reduce as much as possible your medical and monetary benefits and most importantly your settlement. They have a legal obligation to preserve the profits of the insurance company, not give them away to the injured worker.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT WORK COMP ATTORNEYS:

1. The only person who will help you with your work comp case is an YOUR attorney whose job it is to help you. If you go it alone, you are acting as your own attorney.

2. Many workers comp attorneys use non-attorneys to handle your case, both in the office and in court! If you want to hire an attorney to represent you, be sure the firm you contact does not use a "Hearing representative" in the office or in court!

3. Most attorneys still handle client communications the old, outdated way; you call and leave messages pleading for an update on your case or try to determine if your attorney received your fax, email or paper mail. It's best to hire an attorney with a lot of experience exclusively in workers compensation and that has an App exclusively to communicate directly with you and provide you 24/7 case progress updates, appointment reminders and next steps for your case.
