Dominique Young
A femmepreneur advocating for other femmepreneurs.
I'm a graduate of the illustrious Women's College at Brenau University where I obtained a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Arts Management. The following year I enrolled at Florida A&M University College of Law where I learned everything from Environmental Law to International Business Law. In 2011, I earned my Juris Doctorate and passed the Florida Bar Exam later that year.
While working with a private law firm, I enrolled at the University of Alabama School of Law for a Master of Laws in Business Transactions where my focus was Business Law, Intellectual Property, and Tax Law. I earned my LL.M. in 2016. Today, I am licensed in Georgia, the Northern District of Georgia, and the U.S. Tax Court, as well as Florida, and a small business owner, just like you.
Before starting my own firm, I worked for law firms with major corporate clients in different fields of law as a litigation attorney. I also worked for a state government entity in the General Counsel's Office. I have experience handling non-jury trials, negotiations and mediations, and successfully conducting motion hearings on behalf of my clients. My knowledge regarding the needs of small business is vast and useful to enterprising women. I hope we can develop a great connection and work together for years to come.

- Q. Could I face legal issues using "The Property Princess 706" for my real estate business?
- A: You could face an opposition if you attempt to use or register your requested business name for trademark protection. Because your intended business is within the same realm as another registered trademark, your best course of action will be to speak with a trademark attorney. They will run a trademark search to determine if there is a likelihood of confusion regarding the marks and whether there is a likelihood that you mark will survive opposition from the other registrant owner. They can discuss whether you can be on the Supplemental Register if you cannot obtain approval for the Principal register. There are many avenues that cannot be discussed in this answer to obtain protection for ... Read More
- Q. Do I have to pay a debt when landlord refused payment and collection agency is involved?
- A: The landlord may have refused payment due to sending the claim to the collection agency prior to you attempt to make the payment. Reach out to an attorney to assist you in your debtor defense matter. If your statements are corroborated by facts, you need to formally dispute the debt with the forms provided by the collection agency. The attorney that you reach out to can assist you with this form.
- Q. Financed car issues with dealer and finance company in Florida
- A: The court is going to look to the terms of the contract first. Whatever you signed on the contract is what the court will start with first in determining what is to be paid and to whom. Anything that you agreed to prior to the signing of the contract, that is not written in the contract, is not going to be proper evidence in court. The emails will be helpful if you decide to sue on the contract. You must look to the terms of the contract first. The contract may require that you go through arbitration before filing an action in court. Take the contract that you signed to an attorney licensed in the state that the contract is governed by and have that attorney conduct an analysis of whether ... Read More
