I am widely regarded as one of the foremost authorities on the legal and tax challenges faced by entrepreneurs and privately-owned businesses in America.
Originally from Yonkers, New York, I gained prominence as the host of MoneyHunt, a dynamic reality TV show for entrepreneurs that was broadcast on PBS across the country from 1994 to 2003. My weekly syndicated newspaper column, Succeeding in Your Business, often referred to as the “Ann Landers of the business world,” is featured in numerous major newspapers and business websites across North America (www.succeedinginyourbusiness.com). Additionally, I run a small business legal channel on YouTube and regularly contribute to Entrepreneur and other small business publications.
I have authored several books on entrepreneurship and small business management, including Small Business Survival Guide (Adams Media, $12.95) and The eBay Tax and Legal Answer Book (AMACOM, $19.95). I frequently speak across the country on the legal and tax issues that early stage startups encounter (www.succeedinginyourbusiness.com). My latest book, The Crowdfunding Handbook (AMACOM, $19.95), offers guidance to small businesses and early stage companies on the advantages and challenges of initiating a crowdfunded securities offering under Title III of the federal Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act of 2012. I am also currently working on a book about the influence of technology on the capital raising process for technology startups.
In my legal career, I have represented over 15,000 entrepreneurial companies and small businesses over the past 45 years. Previously associated with the New York City law firms of Willkie Farr & Gallagher and Thacher Proffitt & Wood, I now run my own small business law practice in Fairfield, Connecticut.
