Roya was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and returned to her hometown after several years of practicing family law in Austin, Texas. While in law school at the University of Texas, Roya focused her studies on domestic violence and international human rights law. Bob graduated from Arlington High School, University of Texas at Arlington and after briefly attending Dallas Theological Seminary, attained his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in May of 1977 and was icensed by the State Bar of Texas later that same year.
