After receiving a bachelor's degree in psychology from Indiana University in 1979, I moved to Dallas to attend law school. I obtained my law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1982. I was in private practice until I joined the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office in 1985. I was assigned to the newly formed juvenile division in 1988, becoming the supervising attorney in 1995, and remained there until 2008 when I returned to private practice. The focus of my practice remains juvenile law.

Tyler Dorsett started his career in law by volunteering at Catholic Charities. Building local relationships and being involved in the community is a top priority for Attorney Dorsett.
