I was born on May 8, 1959. After various stints running ski lifts at Killington Ski Area, picking apples in Putney, and traveling in Central America, I moved to Burlington, Vermont in 1981. Over the following several years, I taught skiing, flipped pizzas, sold bicycles, and worked as an adolescent and family counselor for a community action agency.
