David Hostetler is a lawyer-educator. He is the founding director of Lex-is School Law Services (www.Lex-is.com). The firm specializes in education law, and represents a broad array of public charter and independent schools.

Mr. Hostetler also teaches educational law, policy, ethics, and leadership in Appalachian State University’s Leadership and Education Studies program. He has also taught as an adjunct professor for several North Carolina law and graduate education programs, using the humanities to teach principles of ethics and leadership.

Jon was born September 14, 1980. He is the son of the late, Perry Mitchell Welborn and Patricia Poteat Welborn of southeastern Wilkes County. Jon’s father, Perry, was an independent insurance agent in N. Wilkesboro. Perry worked for a number of years as a top selling agent for Farm Bureau prior to opening his own insurance company. He graduated from The University of Dayton School of Law in 2003 and worked for Taft, Taft and Haigler in Greenville and for Brock & Scott in Raleigh.
