Edward, a Taylorsville native, knew from a young age that his calling in life was to be an attorney. Some of his earliest memories involve watching his father at his law office. Over the years, his desire to help others through legal work has only grown stronger. Edward is a third-generation lawyer, and it brings him immense pride to practice in the same building as both his father and grandfather before him.

I became a juvenile lawyer by accident but quickly discovered that this area of the law captured both my heart and brain. I practiced exclusively in juvenile court for over ten years.

I began representing children accused of breaking the law in order to ensure that they had a voice and were heard. Whatever the outcome in court, when children are given a voice and are heard, they begin to trust and feel respected and empowered. Jon was born September 14, 1980. He is the son of the late, Perry Mitchell Welborn and Patricia Poteat Welborn of southeastern Wilkes County. Jon’s father, Perry, was an independent insurance agent in N. Wilkesboro. Perry worked for a number of years as a top selling agent for Farm Bureau prior to opening his own insurance company.
