Edward, a Taylorsville native, knew from a young age that his calling in life was to be an attorney. Some of his earliest memories involve watching his father at his law office. Over the years, his desire to help others through legal work has only grown stronger. Edward is a third-generation lawyer, and it brings him immense pride to practice in the same building as both his father and grandfather before him.

I am a board certified Family Law Specialist and have practiced predominantly Family Law and all issues relating to Family Law since my licensing in 2002. I am committed to representing my clients and advocate strongly for my clients both in and out of the courtroom.

I became a juvenile lawyer by accident but quickly discovered that this area of the law captured both my heart and brain. I practiced exclusively in juvenile court for over ten years.

I began representing children accused of breaking the law in order to ensure that they had a voice and were heard. I have been practicing law in southwestern North Carolina since 1981, concentrating in family law, wills, estates and guardianships, and civil litigation. I am experienced in each of these areas, and have successfully tried hundreds of cases over the years. My practice covers Cherokee, Clay, Graham and Macon counties in North Carolina.

Jon was born September 14, 1980. He is the son of the late, Perry Mitchell Welborn and Patricia Poteat Welborn of southeastern Wilkes County. Jon’s father, Perry, was an independent insurance agent in N. Wilkesboro. Perry worked for a number of years as a top selling agent for Farm Bureau prior to opening his own insurance company.
