Barrett comes from a family that has long been a part of the East Texas area. Barrett was born and raised in Tyler. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and played catcher for the school’s baseball team. After high school, Barrett attended Texas A&M University where he earned a degree in Sociology as well as a minor in Business. Karen A. Alexander is a graduate of Baylor University, School of Law. Mrs. Alexander is the owner of Alexander & Associates and specializes in criminal cases. While in law school Kristen worked in the Family Law Clinic at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now Texas A&M University School of Law). During her time in the clinic she was confronted with the reality of the makeup of the modern family. She encountered everything from grandparents raising their grandchildren to unmarried parents with custody and child support issues.
