I graduated Cum Laude from Washburn Law School in 2003. During law school, I participated in Law Journal, Moot Court, and Law Clinic. I set for and passed the Kansas bar in the summer of 2003 and then I took and passed the Missouri bar in 2004. Directly after law school, I had the honor of working directly with the late Judge Elliott of the Kansas Court of Appeals as a research attorney. I then worked briefly with a local attorney in Lawrence, prior to starting my own practice in November of 2005.

Ms. Smith-Woertz focuses on family law, primarily handling cases involving divorce, child support, child custody and residency, parenting issues, and paternity. She serves clients throughout the northeastern quadrant of the state. Ms. Smith-Woertz is a Certified Mediator through the Kansas Office of Judicial Administration and regularly acts as a mediator/conciliator for parties involved in domestic disputes.

I began my criminal law career at the Miami County Attorney’s Office under Elizabeth Sweeney-Reeder. During my time as a prosecutor I worked in Juvenile, Domestic Violence, Misdemeanor Traffic, Misdemeanor Crimes, Field and Game, DUI, and Felony Failure to Register cases. This broad spectrum allowed me to gain great knowledge of criminal law. After leaving the County Attorney's Office in December of 2017, I then went to work for Cameron & Herrman, P.A, a very well-known firm in Wichita, Kansas.
