William F. McGee Jr.
McGee Law Office was founded in the 1920's in Smithland by William F. McGee Jr.'s grandfather, Raymond Dycus. Following in the footsteps of Raymond Dycus, William F. McGee Sr. completed law school at the University of Kentucky after he finished a tour in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for an injury sustained in combat. Continuing the family tradition started by his grandfather and father nearly a century ago, Mr. McGee Jr. graduated from law school at the University of Kentucky in 1993. Not long after, Mr. McGee Sr. retired, and Mr. McGee Jr. continued to provide legal services for clients in McCracken, Livingston, Crittenden, Lyon, Caldwell, Marshall, and Ballard Counties. In the legal community, longevity matters, as Mr. McGee, like his father, has earned an AV Preeminent rating through Martindale-Hubbell. This rating is significant because it stems from reviews given to Mr. McGee by several local judges and other area members of the legal bar.
In this 30 years as a practicing attorney, Mr. McGee has found success defending clients on an expansive range of criminal offenses. Specifically, he has secured a plethora of “NOT GUILTY” verdicts for clients who were charged with FIRST-DEGREE MURDER, DRUG OFFENSES, ASSAULTS, SEX OFFENSES, DUIs, and many other crimes. Mr. McGee’s clients have also benefitted from his expertise by having charges “DISMISSED” for FIRST-DEGREE MURDER, MANSLAUGHTER, ATTEMPTED MURDER, DRUG TRAFFICKING, DRUG POSSESSION, SEX OFFENSES, ASSAULT, WANTON ENDANGERMENT, NEGLECT, BURGLARY, FELONY FIREARM POSSESSION, DUI, EPO/DVO VIOLATIONS, TERRORISTIC THREATENING, MENACING, and several others.
Although much of Mr. McGee's success has been in criminal defense, he is no stranger to other areas of legal representation. Over the years, he has successfully represented numerous clients in contentious divorces with large amounts of assets on the line, as well as those who have suffered personal injuries through car wrecks, etc.

- Published Appellate Court Case Commonwealth of Kentucky v. McManus *Mr. McGee challenged the Commonwealth's search of his client's residence in a highly publicized drug case in McCracken County. Mr. McGee's challenge went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, where the Court ruled for Mr. McGee and his client. The win allowed Mr. McGee to get evidence gathered against his client to be declared inadmissible, thus allowing his client to go free. This case modified the law in Kentucky and is now used by other attorneys in defending clients against unlawful searches.
