Walter Edward Schuler

Walter E. Schuler graduated magna cum laude from The University of Memphis in 1993 with a B.B.A. in International Business. He received his law degree, cum laude, with a Certificate in Health Law with Honors from Saint Louis University in 1996, where he served on the Law Journal Editorial Board, receiving the award for best student article and other honors. Walt has represented individuals and entities in matters related to health law, business law, corporate law, contracts, civil litigation, and state and federal regulation. He has argued cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the Tennessee Supreme Court, and the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Walt has been admitted to the following courts: Tennessee Supreme Court and trial courts in Western Tennessee, 1996; Tennessee Court of Appeals, 2006; U.S. District Court Western District Tennessee,1996; U.S. District Court Middle District Tennessee, 2021; U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, 1998; U.S. Supreme Court, 2003.
Walt is an active member of the Tennessee Bar Association, including its House of Delegates (2013-present), its Access to Justice Committee's Medical-Legal Partnership Subcommittee (2014-16) and its Health Law Section (Chair, 2012-13; Vice Chair, 2011-12; Executive Council, 2008-present). Walt is also an active member of the Memphis Bar Association's Health Law Section (Chair, 2013-14; member of founding Board, 2012). He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the National Association of College and University Attorneys. Walt also serves on the Advisory Committee to the Institute of Health Law and Policy at The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law (2015-present), and on the Health Care Fraud Working Group Committee of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Tennessee since 2008.
