Licensed to practice since 2008, Thomas Howard has represented numerous financial institutions in litigation to enforce their security interests. Over the past decade, he has assisted community banks in complex commercial workouts involving some of the most sophisticated financial products in the banking industry. He has also litigated in contested contract cases on various legal theories.
Since 2015, he has been named both a Rising Star from Super Lawyers and an Emerging Lawyer by Leading Lawyers. He also extensively represents secured creditors in various avenues of commercial loan enforcement through all aspects of litigation, from commercial workouts through enforcement of judgments. He often publishes in the area and sits on the Illinois State Bar Association Section Council for Commercial Banking, Bankruptcy and Collections, and has been quoted in numerous publications – including the Wall Street Journal. In 2021, he became a Certified Ganjier.
Uniform Commercial Code issues, replevins, guaranty actions, and bankruptcy. He has successfully resolved numerous multi-million dollar non-performing loans for many community banks throughout Illinois.
Mr. Howard has represented financial institutions and business creditors in commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters. He has a broad experience in real estate mortgage foreclosures, replevins of personal property and suits on notes and guaranties. He also represents creditors in loan workouts and in bankruptcy matters to enforce their rights.

- Q. I agreed to let a friend use my car for 2 days. After 2 days, my friend informed me he was not returning my car.
- A: Yes, that's conversion of your property to his own. You gave him the authority to use the car, not gifted it to him. Tell the cops - if they don't get your car back, you can replevin it - but that's silly the police should go get it. Tell him to return it by such and such date, or you'll have the authorities get it - but cars can leave the jurisdiction pretty easily.
