Tom started The Church Law Firm in 2022 after graduating with honors from the University of Georgia School of Law and becoming a partner at an elite law firm in Atlanta. Since becoming an attorney, Tom has been handling cases involving high profile federal crimes, serious felonies under Georgia law, and civil claims against overreaching government officials, including small businesses that have been unlawfully targeted by law enforcement based on their sale of legal cannabis products (hemp). During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tom also secured the release of over a dozen federal inmates based on their age, medical conditions, or excessively harsh sentences. Tom has obtained extraordinary results in all kinds of cases.
While in law school, Tom honed his trial advocacy skills competing as a member of the moot court and mock trial teams, he earned awards for achieving the highest marks in his Torts and Constitutional Law classes, and he served as a research assistant to multiple professors, where his work focused on constitutional law and civil rights litigation. Tom was also one of a few students selected to participate in a seminar led by a sitting Supreme Court Justice. Prior to law school, Tom graduated from Emory University in 2012 and clerked at a boutique litigation firm in Midtown Atlanta.
Tom is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Hispanic Bar Association, the National and Georgia Associations for Criminal Defense Lawyers, and he is authorized to practice in all state courts in Georgia. He has been admitted to practice in federal court in the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia and has represented clients in federal courts across the U.S. As a Peruvian-American, Tom is fluent in Spanish and represents the firm’s Spanish-speaking clients, including clients facing potential immigration consequences as a result of their case.
