- A: You should recognize that the publication number you cited is not itself the patent. The patent number is US 9,974,366. This is an important distinction because what is claimed in an application may be different than the claims allowed to ultimately issue as the patent.
Oftentimes during the patent prosecution process the claims are amended to add or remove limitations. So, the application claims may be different than the patented claims. Only the claims are used to determine whether there has been infringement. So, double checking the claims that were actually patented is necessary.

Furthermore, there may be case law analogous to your invention. Finding favorable case law showing similar applications that have been allowed to issue as patents may help.
