
Sonya Tien

Sonya Tien leads her law firm's litigation, corporate, personal injury, and intellectual property practices.
She received her law degree from Columbia University and was recognized as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Sonya received her business degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Kenan Flagler Business School, where she earned 17 scholarships.
Sonya was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers since 2020, Top 40 Under 40 Civil Plaintiffs' Lawyers, and Top 100 Civil Trial Lawyers by The National Trial Lawyers. Her articles have been published by the Wall Street Lawyer and Practising Law Institute. She has presented on the topics of SEC Enforcement and Compliance and Executive Compensation. She also is the former co-author of Fried Frank's monthly, internationally circulated, White Collar Criminal Defense and Securities Enforcement Memo.
Before founding Tien Law Firm, Sonya was a litigation and corporate associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson where she focused on M&A, corporate compliance, SEC & DOJ enforcement, government investigations, commercial real estate, and commercial litigation. Sonya has served clients, Bank of America, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Barclays, Oppenheimer, Tishman Speyer, and CBRE.
While in law school, Sonya was a Summer Associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver, and Jacobson in New York and served as a judicial intern for a federal magistrate, the Honorable George H. Lowe, United States District Court (NDNY), where she gained valuable courtroom and legal writing experience.
