SEAN P. HARRELL is a University of Denver, Sturm College of Law graduate with over 13 years of experience assisting clients through difficult life situations in and out of the courthouse. With the majority of his legal practice in the Larimer County and Weld County courthouses, Mr. Harrell has an established reputation as a local attorney who is professional, courteous and creative when seeking solutions for his clients.
Mr. Harrell and his wife have lived in Northern Colorado since 2016, making Loveland their home in the summer of 2018. - Q. Are police officers required to report monetary gain for a reporting victim?
- A: A benefit to the named victim in a case for filing an allegation against you would be considered a possible motive to lie. This information, particularly if known by the government, should be discovered to the defense.
Each case and scenario must be reviewed individually in relation to current case law, statutes and rules of criminal procedure.

- Q. Do i need a lawyer everytime iam in front of the judge
- A: I agree with my esteemed colleague that you do not always need a lawyer, and most judges will give you an opportunity or even multiple opportunities to obtain counsel or apply to the public defenders office for representation. As a general rule, it is best to obtain counsel at the beginning of a case or once you learn you are under investigation for criminal allegations. Do not forego your right to legal representation if at all possible.
