Sam Mikell
Brian Tanner is an accomplished attorney with a rich background in law and public service. With extensive experience as a former federal prosecutor, Brian has built a solid reputation for achieving successful outcomes for his clients. He adeptly handles a wide range of civil matters, advocating for individuals and businesses. Notably, Brian has a remarkable track record of securing substantial compensation for clients who have suffered due to the negligence or intentional actions of others.
Drawing upon his background as a former prosecutor, Brian specializes in defending individuals and businesses in government white collar investigations, as well as handling allegations of civil fraud. Additionally, he leads the firm's appellate practice, utilizing his keen legal acumen to handle appeals effectively.
In 2018, Brian transitioned back to private practice after dedicating over a decade to public service. During his tenure as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, appointed by the Attorney General, Brian demonstrated his proficiency as a trial attorney, specifically in prosecuting complex criminal fraud, public corruption, and cybercrime cases. His exceptional skills were acknowledged twice by the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Throughout his distinguished service, Brian tackled some of the most high-profile matters within the office.
Furthermore, Brian served as the Appellate Chief, overseeing numerous civil and criminal appeals presented before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. His expertise in appellate matters led to his appointment to the prestigious Attorney General's Appellate Chiefs Working Group in 2017. This national group of appellate lawyers advised senior Department of Justice officials on emerging appellate issues.
Brian's educational background includes an undergraduate degree with highest honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a law degree from Emory University School of Law.
