Ryan R. Shafer
Partner at Meriwether & Tharp, LLC
I am Ryan R. Shafer, a partner at Meriwether & Tharp, LLC. Before joining this firm, I gained considerable experience in family law litigation as an associate attorney at Ferguson Law Firm, P.C. in Jonesboro, Georgia. My litigation experience spans across divorce, modification, child support, legitimation, and contempt cases in various counties including Fulton, Clayton, Henry, Fayette, and Spalding.
I was born and raised in Florence, New Jersey. In 2008, I graduated from La Salle University with a degree in Mathematics and later earned my law degree from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School in 2013. During my first year of law school, I interned for Supreme Court Justice Virginia Long of the New Jersey Supreme Court. In my final semester, I was chosen to join the DeKalb County Family Law Externship Clinic. Under the 3rd Year Practice Act, I represented indigent litigants in family law matters before Chief Judge Mark Anthony Scott. This role confirmed my decision to pursue a career in family law, driven by the opportunity to assist clients during challenging times. I also received a CALI Award for Excellence in Trademark Law for achieving the highest grade in my class, mentored first-year law students, and was selected as a Student Ambassador.
On a personal note, I enjoy watching and playing sports, working out, drawing, and spending quality time with my family and friends.
