life happens. be ready.Prior to founding Pharos Law Group, I worked in Chicago for two of the world’s leading law firms and also worked at one of Utah’s premier law firms. These firms provided superb legal training, but I was often frustrated with the “impersonal” nature of working for large international business entities and the lack of opportunity to assist families and individuals in a meaningful way. When I decided to venture out on my own, my prior law firm experiences led me to focus exclusively on estate planning. I am now able to provide clients with a full range of basic and advanced estate, legacy and financial planning options. I also continue to be involved in a variety of commercial transactions, both large and small. I am married, with 3 children, an avid cyclist, runner (3 marathons) and I enjoy most other sports. When reading for enjoyment (rather than legal education), I enjoy just about anything by Dickens, Tolstoy or Dumas.

- A: Is this question still relevant? If so, you will want to visit with a probate attorney to understand your rights and duties as personal representative. You may be able to do an informal probate of the Will and sale the land through a streamlined process. Best of luck!

- A: Depending on whether there are named beneficiaries for the private accounts, the IRA and the "joint accounts", you will likely need a probate attorney to assist you. On the other hand, if all accounts have named beneficiaries and the department of motor vehicles in Georgia has a streamlined process for transferring title on automobiles, you may be able to avoid probate. Many probate attorneys will offer consultations for a small fee (sometimes free), so it is likely in your best interests to visit with a probate attorney there in GA. Best of luck.

- A: Your best bet is to contact a probate attorney in Washington. This website and others have directories that should assist. Is it possible to do without an attorney, yes, it is possible. However, there is also a good chance that you might make critical mistakes, as probate law is very complicated. Far better to spend money on a qualified professional to ensure it is done right.
