Professional Experience
Attorney, Owner
Idaho Business Law Group, PLLC
- Current
I started my firm in 2005 with a focus on business law and litigation. The firm has grown over the last five years to encompass several other practice areas. These include multiple real estate transactions, construction disputes, contract litigation, and collection matters, among others. My firm has filed multiple lawsuits in relation to the above matters and has successfully litigated/settled them. I am very familiar with the court system, both state and federal, and have the experience to discern when it is practical to file a lawsuit and when it is better to negotiate.
Litigation attorney
Anderson, Julian & Hull
-
While employed with this firm I worked in multiple different jurisdictions throughout Idaho. The work primarily included insurance defense, contract and employment litigation. I spent considerable time in the District Courts of Northern and Eastern Idaho. Through this experience, I learned to appreciate what it meant to be "Counsel from Boise" and how this was perceived with Court personnel throughout Idaho. Respect for the Court and local counsel was paramount. Also, each jurisdiction has its own protocol that must be observed. While at this firm, my experience varied considerably within the scope of litigation. I was heavily involved in initial pleadings, discovery, depositions and motion practice, having prepared and argued countless dispositive motions. There were also multiple trials, arbitrations and mediations I was involved in. This experience has been invaluable as I served my clients.
Natural Resource Division, Department of Agriculture
Office of the Idaho Attorney General
-
As the Department of Agriculture I was lead litigation attorney, working primarily on settlement negotiation, contract drafting and review, drafting and reviewing legislation and administrative rules, and counseling the department on multiple legal matters. The specific areas I was involved in include dairy issues throughout the Magic Valley, various large animal issues, pesticide administrative enforcement and other regulatory matters.
Law Clerk to the Honorable Karen L. Lansing
Idaho State Court of Appeals
-
During my two years with the Idaho Court of Appeals, I was immersed in extensive legal research on state and federal law, prepared pre-hearing bench memorandum, and drafted opinions for the Court on civil and criminal appeals. I was privileged to have the opportunity to sit in chambers as the Court deliberated its decision after oral argument and worked very closely with Judge Lansing and other appellate judges in the drafting of the final opinion.
Law Clerk, Attorney
Moffatt, Thomas, Barrett, Rock & Fields, Chtd.
-
While at Moffat Thomas I worked in various civil litigation matters, conducting legal research, drafted pretrial motions, pretrial discovery, and transactional documents, opinion letters, internal memorandum, and law-related business articles. There were a large variety of legal research and writing projects.
