30 Questions Answered
Q. Can a judge deny certified mail properly addressed to them in Texas
A: In Texas Court filings are filed by the District/County Clerk. If you mail something to the judge they are under no obligation to accept it and are very likely to ignore it since it is an improper ex parte communication
Q. A detective has left me a voicemail twice now asking me to call him. Should I return his call or have an attorney do it?
A: You need to hire an attorney to call the Detective back and find out what they would want. Many attorneys will do this and only charge a retainer if you are being investigated for a crime. If you speak to the Detective yourself you need to be aware that everything you say can be used against you.
Q. Parole violations due to cases dismissed and reinstated
A: You should really consider hiring a lawyer to address this issue. Parole violations can be tricky. Especially when they involve new arrests because arrests can create substantive and technical violations. Without seeing the exact parole violations being alleged it is impossible to give good advice about how to address this issue. Usually, parole violations are handled via Zoom so any lawyer in Texas can represent you on the violation, regardless of where the violation is being heard. If you choose to represent yourself in the parole violation make sure you have any documentation regarding the dismissal ready and provided to your parole officer. Good luck!
