Mr. Ferrin has been a resident of Florida for over 40 years. He was born in New Orleans and raised in Key West Florida. He received his bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Florida and his law degree from Barry University School of Law. Mr. Ferrin has always had the desire to help individuals which is why he has always worked in private practice. On his path to helping individuals Mr. Ferrin had the opportunity to work for one of Central Florida's largest private bankruptcy firms. While doing so he was able to represent many individuals and small businesses in their bankruptcies some of which had debts exceeding twenty million dollars, $20,000,000. Mr. Ferrin is involved in the following organizations and affiliations: US Bankruptcy Court Middle District of Florida, The Florida Bar, American Bar Association, The Central Florida Bankruptcy Lawyers Association, Central Florida Family Law Inns of Court, and the Orange County Bar Association. Additionally, Mr. Ferrin is a former adjunct professor for Everest University.

- Q. Can a non-resident petition for divorce in FL with property involved?
- A: You can file in Florida but not until she has been in Florida for at least 6 months. You can try and file it sooner than the 6 months if there would be no other jurisdiction that could address the divorce, but to be safe you would want to wait the 6 months if you can.
- Q. I am going through a divorce, I bought myself a car and he is trying to take it for alimony. Can he do that?
- A: The short answer is maybe. We would need a lot of information regarding the total financial picture before we could properly respond to this email. I would recommend retaining an attorney to represent you.
- Q. Can I move out off my home until tells o I am divorced and not get in any trouble and not loose my half of me aets
- A: You can leave the home without affecting any marital rights you may have in the home other than possession and access. Once you leave the home and the divorce is filed, you will not be able to return to the home unless you have a court order or an agreement between you and your husband. Also, if you feel that you are in fear of domestic violence you may want to look into filing for an injunction.
