A: These kinds of zoning questions are usually county specific. Additionally, even where a state or local law does not prohibit the operation of a home day care this does not mean that the home owners association does not have limitations in its bylaws or declarations. So you my want to check into those details as well. However, the general answer for Maryland is no. These businesses are considered a no-impact home-based business. It is a business that is consistent with the residential character of the dwelling unit. It doesn't require external modifications that would detract from the residential appearance of the dwelling unit so it typically does not violate zoning laws/requirements. People operate all kinds of small businesses within their homes, people work from home inside of home offices and this simply does not convert the space into a commercial property. It takes much more than the mere existence of a business to convert to a commercial use property. Of course their could be a scenario in which a home-based daycare could change the character of the residential home in such a way that it now converts to commercial use but this is rare in most instances. ... Q. I'm looking to find out who the resident agent is for Sysco corp. How do I find that out?

A: So I'm going to jump and make an assumption that you need the resident agent information because you are pursuing a lawsuit and need to serve Sysco Corp's Resident Agent. A few things - This is a huge company so be sure you are suing the correct entity is it Sysco Corp. or is it Sysco Food Services of Baltimore - or Sysco Business Services. Next and again because this is a large company that is headquartered in Texas you will want to confirm the state where you are initiating the lawsuit. This is a question of jurisdiction and whether you have standing to sue the business in a particular state, for example - does the Maryland court have jurisdiction to resolve your legal matter against Sysco based on the claims you are bringing. If so, you will want to perform a business entity search for Sysco Corp on the Maryland Business Express website. You can do that here: https://businessexpress.maryland.gov/

A: This is a fairly complex question that does not have a straightforward answer. You will certainly need to be licensed and compliant with all of the appropriate governing bodies in your field. Outside of that, there could be additional licensing or qualifications required to contract with a government agency, but that would simply depend on which government/agency you wish to work with. For example, Maryland government contracting officers may have less red tape than Federal government contracting officers. Also, largely depends on whether you will act as a sub contractor or a prime contractor. I don't represent any programmers, but I do have a few software developers, and even this is unique to the type of software they are developing. Most of it is mandated within the industry, but again any federal or state agency that you submit a bid proposal to will want to see that you are compliant and are maintaining compliance with those industry standards. ...
