Biography

From the time I was a young girl, I always dreamed of opening my own business. My desire to learn more about business led me to attend Manhattan College for undergraduate school, where I majored in Finance and Managerial Science with a minor in Marketing. In college, I discovered my fascination with the law and realized that I wanted to build a career where I could work with clients directly and have the opportunity to help people when they need it most. I graduated from the school of business with my bachelor's degree one year early, and I immediately went on to earn my Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law. I am licensed to practice law in both Texas and North Carolina, and I have practiced family law in both states.

I approach family law from a non-judgmental place, where I put myself in my client's shoes and work with my clients to help them achieve the life that they desire. It is my mission to build trust with clients, have open lines of communication and to help people in my local community navigate through the complexities of the legal system. I am also deeply passionate about children's rights, and I am a Custody Advocate with the Council for Children's Rights and a Guardian ad Litem to children in the foster care system.

Opening my own solo practice is a dream come true and I am overjoyed to be able to combine my love of business with my love of family law. I appreciate you taking the time to read about me, and I encourage you to reach out so that I can have the opportunity to learn more about you. Regardless of what family law issue you may be dealing with, let's touch base. I look forward to hearing from you.

Q. I have custody in NC and my ex gets visitation every other weekend. Can I move to a new location in NC for work?
A: If an existing custody order is in place, it is imperative that you continue to comply with that order. If the mother of the child opposes the move, then she could petition the court for a modification of the existing order. The mother would then have to prove that (1) there has been a substantial change in circumstances impacting the child's well-being and (2) a change in the custody arrangement would be in the child's best interest. If you believe that this move constitutes a substantial change in circumstances and is in the best interest of the child, you could petition for the Court to modify the existing custody agreement as well.

I recommend that you consult with an attorney regarding the different factors the Court weighs when determining whether a substantial change in circumstances exists and if so, the considerations the Court employs when making a best interest determination. ... Read More
