Biography

Kate Fitz Gibbon is a Santa Fe attorney with a local practice focused on wills, trusts and probate and art and cultural heritage law. Her law office provides dedicated, diligent, professional service to all New Mexicans without discrimination. Nationally, Kate Fitz Gibbon advises art collectors, foundations, galleries and museums. She serves on the boards of the Committee for Cultural Policy and the ABA Art & Cultural Heritage Law Committee. Kate Fitz Gibbon served on the Cultural Property Advisory Committee to the President under Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. She is a frequent speaker at museums and national symposia on art and cultural heritage law. She was editor and contributor to Who Owns the Past? Cultural Property, Cultural Policy and the Law, Rutgers University Press, 2005. Kate Fitz Gibbon obtained her law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she received the Helen S. Carter Prize and the Award for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property Law. She has a Master's degree from St. John's College and Bachelor of Arts from Skidmore College.
