Jordan B Dorrestein

A creative and dynamic attorney, Jordan has recently returned to Illinois to join the litigation practice of Higgins & Burke after several years of practicing in Colorado. We are happy to have him aboard and pleased to announce this new addition to our practice.
Prior to joining Higgins & Burke, P.C., Jordan was the lead associate attorney with the litigation practice of Goulart & Associates, P.C. in Boulder, Colorado. During that time, Jordan secured multiple favorable judgments and settlements for his clients in a wide array of legal matters including construction defect, real estate, life/viatical settlements, securities and commercial litigation.

Leading up to becoming an attorney, Jordan enjoyed several years of experience working in various legal arenas that have shaped his perspective on what it means to effectively represent a client and advocate their cause. For example, Jordan's previous legal experiences include working as a law clerk for a legally blind sole practitioner, an internship with retired Appellate Judge and Illinois Legislative Inspector General of Ethics Thomas Homer and a one year clerkship with the Naperville, Illinois based Collins Law Firm in matters of complex litigation.

As an attorney, Jordan's areas of practice have included commercial and civil litigation, securities, construction, business, real estate, land use, personal injury, environmental, consumer protection, bankruptcy and family law. This wide array of legal experience allows Jordan to advise clients on intersecting matters across many fields of law and take creative and insightful approaches to solving his clients' legal issues.

Jordan is currently admitted to practice law in Illinois, Colorado, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado. He is a voluntary member of the Colorado, Illinois, Chicago and Kane County bar associations.

Jordan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Law from Northern Illinois University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and with University Honors. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Jordan was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and presented with the Maude Uhland Award for excellence in written composition. Mr. Dorrestein remained at NIU for his legal education where he finished 12th in his class, graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a co-founding member and Vice President of the NIU Environmental Law Society.
