Joan Mary Medeiros

Joan Medeiros devotes her Sacramento legal practice to estate planning, Medi-Cal and VA planning, elder law, Special Needs Planning, and probate. Her primary focus is protecting individuals and families from the confusing and devastating legal effects of failing to plan for death and disability. Through proper estate planning, such as wills, trusts, special needs trusts, Medi-Cal and Veterans Benefits planning, and elder life planning, her clients can protect their assets from the unnecessary expense and delay of court proceedings and unwanted government and administrative oversight. Raised on a dairy farm in the San Joaquin Valley, Joan graduated from the University of California, and then worked for many years in private and public service before becoming an attorney in 1993. A resident of Sacramento since 1984, her diverse background gives her a uniquely practical perspective on the practice of estate planning. She is often asked to speak to community organizations regarding estate planning, elder law, special needs trusts, and probate avoidance. Joan is a member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association, Wealth Counsel and Elder Counsel, exclusive attorney organizations that are industry leaders in providing the latest strategies for estate planning and elder law. She is also a member of the Sacramento Estate Planning Counsel and the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys.
