Jason Poblete
Reed Smith
Jason brings more than 20 years of public policy and political experiences to his practice in the Global Regulatory Enforcement litigation group. A former senior Congressional staffer, he represents clients on both domestic and international issues before the U.S. Congress, Federal Agencies and Courts, and International Organizations. During his tenure on Capitol Hill he was ranked several times as one of “50 Most Influential Staffers on Capitol Hill” Roll Call newspaper.
He counsels clients on compliance with anti-boycott laws and economic sanctions programs maintained by the U.S. Government; export controls including the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations, and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR); free trade agreements, related issue areas such as customs compliance matters and Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) reviews, and investigations related to these issues. His clients have included U.S. cities, domestic and foreign corporations, international organizations, and defense contractors.
Jason draws upon his Capitol Hill and other Washington, D.C. experiences that include strategic consulting services for businesses confronting challenges with the intersection of law, public policy, crisis communication, and related matters. He has represented clients before the United Nations and has testified before a permanent U.N. committee.
