Biography

James Stanley has over 30 years experience practicing criminal and DUI law. He has handled thousands of criminal and DUI cases and has conducted over 150 jury trials. Mr. Stanley is a former Colorado Senior Deputy District Attorney. He knows how to evaluate the merits of a criminal case, detect defects in police investigations, recognize when an individual's constitutional rights have been violated, discover procedural errors and make the right decisions on how to handle the case. These skills come from evaluating thousands of police investigations and preparing criminal and DUI cases for trial. If the police have crossed the line and in any way violated an individual's constitutional rights, Mr. Stanley knows how to recognize and uncover this, which can seriously hinder or completely prevent the government from prosecuting a case. Mr. Stanley, with his experience as a former senior prosecutor, has unique insight into what is involved with the decision making process and analysis of a criminal prosecution. He has insider knowledge and understanding of how the criminal justice system works and uses that knowledge to benefit his clients. Knowing how decision makers, the prosecutors and the judges, think and analyze a case provides a solid basis to achieve the best possible outcome for his clients. He has extensive experience with every category of criminal offense, from Murder in the First Degree to DUI. Mr. Stanley's experience is not limited to the law. In addition to his legal training and extensive courtroom experience, Mr. Stanley has a diverse background, equipping him for problem solving, case facts analysis and the ability to easily relate to his clients as well as his opponents in the courtroom. Mr. Stanley believes a well-rounded person with varied life experiences is as asset in any profession, especially the profession of law, which involves significant personal and human interaction.

My law practice focuses on helping individuals accused of a crime (felony or misdemeanor) or DUI in Colorado. My passion is to ensure that every step is taken and every possible measure is used to achieve the best possible case outcome for my clients. To accomplish this it is crucial that the prosecutor fully understands the total picture surrounding the facts of the case. This total picture is omitted when the police bring a case to the prosecutor. I have developed a skill in identifying, developing and effectively presenting the aspects of a case that place my client in the best possible light. Of course, each case is different and defensible to different degrees. My clients are consistently extremely satisfied with what I am able to accomplish for them. 4 Questions Answered
Q. if a codefendant has their trial testimony sealed, would it be possible for defendant to have access to it if requested?
A: If a court issues an order sealing a case in Colorado, then no member of the general public has access to the record. You could file a motion with the court to request access to the record.
Q. i live in denver colorado recently a towing co. backed up to my garage witch is attached to my house and towed it away
A: The first action you should take is call the police and explain in detail what happened, that is make a report. The police agency will decided if the action by the repo company was criminal
Q. How often do arrest warrants happen for a disorderly conduct?
A: If a law enforcement officer informs you a warrant will be issued for you on a misdemeanor charge, like Disorderly Conduct, it is possible you can ask if the case can proceed by summons. I suggest you contact a criminal defense attorney, who can contact the officer and see if their are other options.
