I graduated from Temple University School of Law in 1992. Since that time, I have practiced solely in the areas of workers' compensation, social security disability, and related state and federal disability law. This was further limited to just Pennsylvania workers’ compensation matters over the last several years. In addition to Pennsylvania licensure, I am also licensed to practice in the state courts of New Jersey, and am admitted to practice in Federal District Courts in both states. On various occasions, I have been a speaker at public information seminars, as well as seminars sponsored by The Bucks County Bar Association and National Business Institute, on workers' compensation topics. I have also participated in The People's Law School curriculum, teaching a class on workers' compensation. Most recently, I was invited to join the faculty of LawLine.com, a prestigious legal education provider. I am an active member of the Bucks County, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. Away from the office, I serve as President of the homeowners’ association of a 400-residence development.

- Q. Do I have to sign a release for workers' comp to access my Medicare and SSDI info in PA?
- A: If you have an attorney (and you should), this question is best directed to him or her. If you don't, it is perfectly okay to demand to know why they want this information. Typically, the workers' compensation insurance carrier would want Medicare information if they were looking at settlement options. But, again, if you do not have an attorney, I would urge you to consult with an attorney certified as a specialist in workers' compensation law, whether my firm or another of the fine attorneys on this board. In a consultation, we can explain how your specific case would be handled, and why they may want those records in your case. Good luck!
- Q. Can I sue a homeowner for injury instead of workers' comp in PA?
- A: I agree with Mr. Belt. Where available, an injured worker need not choose between receiving workers' compensation benefits and pursuing a personal injury case against a third party responsible for the work injury. There is interplay between the two types of cases, but both can be pursued. Good luck!
- Q. Do I need to repay workers' comp if I can't return to work due to injury?
- A: The short answer is no, you do not have to repay workers' compensation benefits if you do not return to work. However, the first thing you should do is consult with an attorney before making any decisions regarding your future. You could easily cost yourself in terms of money and rights by doing things in the wrong order. This forum is great for having simple questions answered. However, in most cases, an injured worker needs legal advice tailored to their case. I would urge you to contact an attorney certified as a specialist in workers' compensation law, whether my firm or another of the fine attorneys on this board. Good luck!
