Biography

Mr. Ivey’s practice focuses on civil litigation, white collar criminal defense, Congressional and grand jury investigations, regulatory matters, crisis management counseling and internal corporate investigations. His experience includes:
• Serving as counsel during the U.S. Senate Whitewater Committee’s investigations of the Clinton White House;
• Conducting numerous grand jury investigations as a federal and state prosecutor; and,
• Conducting an investigation of the reliability of a major electric utility company, and representing that company in a proceeding to determine if the company would be charging appropriate electricity rates.

Mr. Ivey was twice elected State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney in Washington, DC. In his criminal litigation practice, he has successfully represented clients involved in high-profile matters such as the U.S. Secret Service prostitution scandal, a federal fraud investigation involving environmental law violations, campaign finance irregularities in the 2010 District of Columbia elections, a CEO involved in a federal public corruption investigation in Michigan, and a company accused of mortgage and credit card fraud.

He has also led internal investigations involving the embezzlement of funds from a corporation’s employee benefits plan, an employee who stole money and clients from his firm, and a highly sensitive sexual misconduct scandal at an elite local prep school. His clients have been targets or subjects in investigations led by the Department of Justice, several federal Inspector General offices, the Maryland and DC Attorney General offices, the Maryland State Prosecutor, and several State’s Attorneys’ offices in Maryland.

Mr. Ivey has an active civil litigation practice as well. He recently represented a Maryland business which had been sued by a Fortune 500 hotel chain, winning on a motion for summary judgment. He successfully defended a small
