David P. Finn is a seasoned attorney with a distinguished career spanning nearly two decades. With a background that combines criminal prosecution, civil litigation, and academic instruction, David has built a reputation as a versatile and highly skilled legal professional.
David spent over 12 years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of California, where he represented the United States in federal court across a wide array of complex criminal cases, including drug cartel conspiracies, cross-border investigations, and white-collar crimes. He also served in several leadership roles, such as National Border and Immigration Coordinator, where he developed innovative programs to combat human smuggling and provided legal guidance to U.S. Attorneys nationwide.
Prior to his time as a federal prosecutor, David honed his litigation skills as an associate at Gomez Law Group, representing plaintiffs in civil rights, personal injury, and business disputes. His comprehensive trial experience includes over 46 felony jury trials, three felony bench trials, and numerous appellate arguments before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
David’s academic contributions include serving as an adjunct professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where he teaches courses in Criminal Law and Legal Writing. A passionate mentor and community advocate, he volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in dependency court and actively supports programs promoting diversity and inclusion within the legal profession.
David’s dedication to professional excellence is reflected in numerous awards, including the prestigious Director’s Award for Superior Performance from the Department of Justice and the Service by a Public Attorney Award from the San Diego County Bar Association. He also holds certifications in leadership and management from Harvard Business School and Cornell University.
