After spending many years negotiating derivatives contracts at Wall Street banks, Dave Roemerman chose to start his own practice to help homeowners and small businesses. Roemerman Law represents clients in bankruptcy and foreclosure defense cases, helping people get a fresh start and stay in their homes. In the bankruptcy space, Roemerman Law assists clients in filing their petitions, protecting the assets they wish to keep, and understanding that bankruptcy is not an ending, but a beginning. In the foreclosure defense area, we work to cure what we see as an imbalance in judicial foreclosure matters. Large financial institutions almost always have seasoned attorneys with considerable experience working for them in foreclosure matters. Homeowners, on the other hand, often represent themselves or work with well-meaning lawyers who lack the tools or expertise to really challenge the big banks in court. Roemerman Law has negotiated settlement and modification agreements against some of the nation’s biggest banks and we always make our clients’ wishes our primary goal. We believe in giving homeowners a fair chance when it comes to defending their rights.

So what does that mean? To me, that means that I had previously worked at several major banks, negotiating derivatives contracts (ISDAs) and serving as a Dodd-Frank compliance lawyer. I left to see the direct results of my work helping normal people, instead of simply hedging out risk for major financial institutions. I liked my prior career, but I love my current one and find it much more fulfilling. I truly believe all lawyers really sell only two things - translation and peace of mind. Translation means we can take your story and put it into the proper form before a court, just as we can tell you what the court says in plain English. In short, we translate between legalese and layman. Peace of mind means, "My lawyer's on it, I feel good." This is what we try to provide to all our clients.
