5 Questions Answered

Q. I'm a first time offender being charged with child neglect which is a class 6 felony. Probation, jail, or felony?
A: Every case is fact specific. You should consult and retain an attorney to assess the facts of your case. The range of consequences for a Level 6 felony are defined under Indiana Code 35-50-2-7(b) the possible sentence for Level 6 felony as between six months to two years and one-half (2 1/2 ) years, in the Indiana Department of Corrections, with the advisory sentence being one (1) year and a fine up to $10,000.
Q. My husband is going to prison for 13 years. He has a court appointed lawyer that I don't believe is being fair .
A: Consult and retain a private attorney if you would like another opinion on the case.
Q. Can a person that allegedly committed a crime as a juvenile be charged with the crime 11 years later as an adult?
A: Whether or not a juvenile is tried as an adult largely depends on the charge involved, age of the juvenile at the time, and other criminal history. Just because the person is of adult age now, does not mean the case will be tried as an adult.
