- Q. I have paid the mortgage for 7 years while my husband didn't contribute. Do I need to split the house 50/50 in divorce?
- A: Hi there,
You ask an excellent question and you are wise to start looking for appropriate resources to help you have perspective as to what could happen in a divorce and what your legal rights are. The best answer I can give you without more information is "maybe." Domestic relations law in Colorado provides for an "equitable distribution" of property subject to division by the Court. To point out one that may be of particular interest to you is the legal doctrine of "contribution." Sometimes when one spouse contributes more to the marital estate (the property subject ... Read More
- Q. Can I request food logs from my wife’s lawyer concerning my daughter’s metabolic disease PKU her levels continue to rise

Your question really drives at the "information collection" stage of a case. This is commonly referred to as "discovery." Discovery can be a rather complicated and nuanced topic as there are several sets of laws at play (evidence, civil procedure, statute, case law, etc.) - ... Read More
- Q. can I get my money back for a car that was always a gift?
- A: Hi There,

I also understand that it can be difficult to know what exactly to communicate to get an answer to your question(s). Unfortunately, there is a bit too much missing information and context in your post to give you a meaningful and helpful response. I highly suggest that you schedule a consultation (many of them are free), to have an attorney qualified to practice law in Colorado review your case and give you better-tailored ... Read More
